Short story long: I’ve dumped macShot and switched back to CleanShot X.
I rely on screen recording for delivering instructional lessons and providing my students with video feedback on their work. Up until now, I’ve only used macShot for screen captures on FrugalMac, and it’s been fine.
This morning, I tested macShot’s screen recording capabiltiies. The recording went smoothly enough, at least until I played the video back after the recording session. A high-pitched static shrill pierced the air during playback, completely obliterating my recorded vocals. 20 minutes of time completely wasted.
Ugh.
I tested macShot a few more times before cutting my losses. After all, the work still needed to be done, and I simply didn’t have time to troubleshoot any further.
I still have a valid CleanShot X license, so I installed it on FrugalMac and re-recorded my previous session. Absolutely no issues. It just works.
So back to CleanShot X it is.
