This week, I discovered FineTune, a free and open-source Mac audio controller. With FineTune, I can independently select audio sources (both input and output) and adjust audio levels on a per app basis. It’s a mere 5MB in size and provides much of the functionality I used to get with Rogue Amoeba’s SoundSource.

For me, what’s most important is being able to switch audio between my Mac’s wired speakers and my Airpods. And for that purpose alone, it excels. FineTune comes with a 10-band equalizer with 20 presets and can be installed via HomeBrew. I’ve only used it for a few days now, but it’s already won a spot on my Mac’s menubar.
