I’m off to Kids Read Comics in Dearborn, Michigan this weekend. It’s a FREE event – bring the family! If you’re in the area, I’ll be giving two workshops on “Brainstorming Character Design”. The guest-list of cartoonists at this event is pretty amazing. I’ll also have copies of “Rebootus Maximus” and other cool goodies on hand.
Stop my table and say hi! :)
Today’s comic is another ‘toon revamp. This particular single panel was originally drawn on January 30, 2002, and was inspired by the downsizing of our engineering design team, at a time when I was working as an engineer. Shortly after the layoff, I made the biggest decision of my life: to leave the engineering world behind and pursue art as my career. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
I brought this one back as a revamped toon because I think the idea behind the comic still holds up today. Hope you enjoy it, too!

June 11, 2010 at 12:58 pmHa ha… I’ve applied in the past for the CEO positions of some big tech companies after their CEOs leave with huge severance package. My cover letter usually states that I’m willing to mismanage the company for a lot less (but still way more than I’ve ever earned).
