R Stands for Radiation

Things just went from bad to worse, huh?

True story:

When I was 19 years old, I worked at a nuclear plant in Chattanooga. On a few occasions, I had to dress up in radiation garb (much like Bob and Maurice are wearing in today’s comic) and roam the plant’s floor. Most of the doors in the plant are pressurized, making them very hard to open. I wasn’t aware of this.

The first time I opened a door inside one of the plant’s many anti-chambers, a gust of air gushed forth, and I freaked out – thinking I was being swarmed by “radiation”. I thought for sure I was contaminated by the “zoomies”. Thankfully, I calmed down a little when I saw a few more nuclear ‘suits’ open the same door a few moments later.

I don’t really miss those days at the nuclear plant, but one thing’s for sure – I’ll never forget them, either.

What a rough day for poor old Bob on his first day at work. Seems like he should have opted for that nice relaxing job at the local fast food restaurant.

now that they have a nuclear reactor, Footle needs a cyclotron + proton beam (or neutron beam if they’re really fancy) for RAS testing. BTW I’ve done particle beam irradiation RAS testing working for IBM :-)

    “Schlok was here”?
    Who is Schlok?
Why not “Kilroy was here”? :)
