Manager speak and marketing speak are one in the same. I think many of these ‘buzzwords’ first emerged in marketing departments, then gradually made their way through to everyone else. Wherever their origin, buzzwords and catch-phrases are the bane of my existence.
Do you cringe when you hear such buzzwords, especially coming out of those who have no clue what they mean? I hope I’m not the only one. What corporate phrases and buzzwords drive you nuts? Sound off and let me know…

January 30, 2008 at 11:38 pmUrgh is right – I hate the word synergy too. That word comes from an 80’s cartoon called Jem and the Holograms – now it’s part of everyday corporate speak. Mission Statement and Vision Statement are also up there on my “Annoying Buzzwords” List.

I hate leveraging synergies.
I hate driving forward a metaphor that lifts all boats.
I hate paradigm shifts and avoid them like a plague of viral memes.
See? Easy.
