Cease and Desist

Well, it’s true folks.

I’ve had to abruptly wrap up today’s storyline in light of a recent C & D I received from Google. I can’t go into it any further than I’ve already mentioned in the strip, lest I risk the further wrath of said company. Please accept my humble apologies.

Wow. For a company who should do no evil, they apparently have a major stick up their butt.

This is ridiculous. I have no idea what you did in your strip except satirizing the working of a company. I mean you’ve not done anything illegal as far as I am aware.

Being a student of law myself, I would say this kind of thing is pure and simple legal blackmail and I feel that these big companies use their power to stop any kind of commentary on them, especially one which shows them in a funny way.

I say you should get a lawyer and demand further explanation from the said company instead of succumbing to their threats.

Let’s get bloggers to write about this kind of nonsense. We need to spread the awareness.

    Seriously?

(As in “Seriously, they C&D’d you?”, “Seriously, Google cares about your comic?”, and “Seriously, you would let such a C&D stop you from making said comic?”)

My suggestion to you is to get a lawyer and send a reply to this company couched in legal terms and demanding exactly what content in your comic has offended them.

And even if so, your comic is a purely satirical and fictional piece of work and even represented as pure fiction, in no way intended to represent any form of reality whatsoever. And any company which claims that your comic has “slandered” them in any form is absolute bull****

Wow I can’t believe Google would actually send you a C&D for this comment, sure paints a different picture from what Google would have you believe (that they do no evil).

Classic! You are truly a devious one Krishna. So will this mean a new Microsoft storyline parody is on the way too or doing its competitors paint the picture for them?

*lol* I am glad I waited to publish my comment! I’ve been composing the appropriate rant all day, and was just getting ready to lay it on, when I thought, “Hmmmmm … is this a joke? I mean, the GOOG guys seem pretty laid back, and nothing in the comic was really offensive or anything”.

Nice one! Have a great weekend!
