Binge is the new Watching

Netflix has really spoiled me by giving me the ability to watch my favorite shows in full. Two of my favorite television shows, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, changed the way I approach television. Instead of having to wait a week for the next episode like one normally would with network television, I have the ability to watch multiple episodes back-to-back if I choose. And that’s exactly what I do.

How many of you binge-watch television shows? Do you prefer it? Will you ever be able to go back to “normal” television programming? Share your thoughts below.

I just got into that this past year… I’m trying to quit (especially before my wife gets back from her summer trip to India (Thursday next week)). The last show I binged on was the 2004-2009 Battlestar Galactica. Before that was Orange is the New Black…

I found when I was in the midst of a show, I wasn’t sleeping well, I wasn’t working well, I was unhappy when I wasn’t watching the show, and I was getting headaches when I was (probably sitting too close to the computer). I spent the weekends looking for excuses to sit home and watch instead of going outside and walking around.

    There’s a reason I’ve never owned a TV in my post-college life.

Everyone’s trying to get me to watch Breaking Bad, and yeah, it looks good, but I’m not sure I’m ready to commit myself to five seasons of 50 minute episodes. It’s too much for me.

I’m trying to read more books on the iPad now, but it’s still too easy to get sucked into short, quick, repetitive news articles online.

Tell me what you think!
