I always saw Dilbert as more of a desk jockey than a true nerd. I can’t picture Dilbert arguing for The Next Generation over The Original Series, or unraveling the chronological ambiguity of the Doctor Who canon. He always seemed to be the foil that made the surrounding nerds seem weirder and more unhinged.
Then again, I never read much Dilbert, because I never found it to be all that funny, unlike a certain other comic I can think of.

As for an interface for a brick, try a trowel and mortar.
