I read a fascinating article this weekend that concluded that Internet users appear to be more active in social groups than non-Internet users. The stats are pretty interesting.
It should come as no surprise that the 18 – 29 year old demographic is making the most out of social media, or that religious groups are the most common groups visited by Internet users. What I found of particular interest was the groups in which tech users don’t dominate. Among them are AARP members, veterans organizations, farm organizations and fan groups for products / brands.
I’ve always pontificated that the next generation of Internet users will covet privacy more than the previous generation. After all, it’s “cool” to be different… I think the next generation of users will be computer savvy, but they will also guard their privacy more – not out of fear, but out of a sense of adding mystery.
Thoughts?
