I experimented with limited color palettes on this “Shining” tribute piece and I really like how it came out. The wheels are turning and I want to continue this experimentation in my future work. I was particularly influenced to trying this more muted color palette by an artist named Francesco Francavilla, whose work I really admire.

July 29, 2013 at 11:27 amKaren agrees with me that the artwork in this is very good, and mentioned that the color pallet is unusual and catches one’s interest. The “lime green” caught her eye. She says she would have expected something more along the lines of a pale cold grey/blue, and was somewhat delighted by the way you used the green. (Karen is the visual artist type in our family, I enjoy, but cannot create it! :)

July 29, 2013 at 2:33 pmThe color combination is appropriately disturbing, from danger red to caution yellow to Mr. Yuck green. The red teeth and eyes in the last image make him especially menacing.
