10 Days In With the Airport Extreme
I’ve had my new Airport Extreme router for about 10 days now. It’s single-handedly the best router I’ve owned, purely from a ease-of-configuration standpoint.
Via friends on Twitter, I learned that I could add a USB hard drive to the USB port on the Airport Extreme and have the drive automatically recognized by the system as a network drive. Pretty nifty!
Even better, I have since connected a USB hub to the USB port on the Airport Extreme to simultaneously share my Brother 2070N network printer with the network drive.
Unlike other routers which seem to ignore the Macintosh in their documentation, the Airport Extreme is built from the ground up to work great with the Mac.
My only question is: how do I register the device with Apple for warranty support? Does this happen automatically?

Update: I had to perform the registration manually. Odd that I would have to do that manually given how, when a new Mac or iPhone is purchased, registration automatically happens after first boot.

July 20, 2012 at 9:21 pmIf you are thinking of AppleCare, the base station will not qualify individually. It will be needed to be purchased with a system to have that coverage.
Your receipt should be your default proof of coverage.
