Table for Two

The use of smartphones at the dinner table can now be classified as an epidemic. Some things are sacred, and for us as a family, that means no devices at the dinner table. How about you?

Haha … our kids yell at us “No iPhones at the table!” if we even think about it. 3.5 and 6 years old ;)

We just eat on the couch in front of the TV anyway…

If we had kids, we might feel differently about that.

This seems to be a familiar theme for this comic:

Now that my wife is with me in New York City we’re both eating dinner together in front of tech devices… We don’t really have a table, except the one I use as a desk for the giant iMac.

I usually eat with my meal on a table cloth next to the keyboard & mouse and she eats with her meal and iPad on her lap in a chair next to the desk.

I try to turn slightly away from the computer when we eat together…

Still, it’s a step up from when we lived in India and didn’t eat meals together. I got up well before dawn and ate breakfast while she slept. Then after work I ate dinner early and she ate her dinner some time after I went to bed every night…

Of course, once we buy a TV here, it’ll be more like that, she’ll stay up later than me watching TV and eat her dinner then…

Tell me what you think!
