I don’t care about RIM, but I hope QNX survives.

I just don’t see them being any sort of market leader again. Between iOS and Android its going to be near impossible for them. Microsoft has better leverage with upcoming windows 8 but I even doubt they will make a ripple in the tidal wave of the big 2 now.

They are done. Our company is in process of decommissioning our BB Enterprise servers due to lack of use. We used to only use BBs. Now we have like 50 company wide that we are replacing with either iPhones or Android phones.

A textbook case of what happens to a great idea lacking continued innovation.

There are large enterprise IT departments that will continue to buy RIM BBs for as long as they are for sale; part of the reason is Applephobia / Linuxphobia.

In my book, RIM was dead 5 years ago.

That is one RIM job that I’ll take a pass on.

If RIM comes back (and that’s a big IF) it could be a bigger turn-around than Apple. But I just don’t see it happening. Whatever major release they put out next can’t just be a “catch up” device. Given the layoffs and the brain drain at RIM, the likelihood of a comeback is ever so slim.

Research in Motion just became Research in Loose Motion?

    Sorry couldn’t resist. :p
