I pulled the trigger and ordered a 16GB iPad2 (WiFi only). The case, shown above, arrived last week. The iPad2 should arrive sometime this week.
I’ll be writing about my first impressions of the iPad as well as my rationale for buying one in an upcoming blog post. In the meantime, for all you iPad owners: what must-have apps would you recommend?

May 4, 2011 at 1:15 pmI don’t want to brag but… I got mine Monday morning! :)
The irony is, I have too much stuff to do to really sit and play with it like a real geek.

May 4, 2011 at 4:55 pmWhy does everyone feel the need to explain the rationale for their purchase for others? It’s the one thing I hate about the iPad (2). The first thing people ask is: “Why did you buy that? It’s expensive! I’d never buy that…” and then you’re stuck justifying it to everyone.
Anyways, on an entirely different note, here are some apps I’d recommend. My use of the device may be different from what you want to do, but you may find some of them useful:
– BeejiveIM: the BEST IM client for any platform. If you use Windows Live Messenger, be sure to update to the latest Adium Beta so you can sign in from multiple locations. Well worth the $9.99 price.
– Twitter: The official app continues to amaze me. There are so many neat functions and gestures to learn and use. Best of all, it’s FREE.
– PlainText: A simple text editor, that auto-syncs over Dropbox. It does it all in the background, so it’s more like you’re just editing text documents on your computer.
– TuneIn Radio: A really nifty organizer/player for internet radio stations.
– Adobe Ideas: Useful drawing app for quick sketches.
– iBooks: a requirement.
– Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP: an amazing little game to try. A retro-styled pixelated adventure game with some incredible visuals, and neat soundtrack.
… That pretty much covers the stuff I use on a regular basis. Hope it helps!
