A Live Webcomic Performance

So you may have noticed that over the last few weeks I’ve been changing dialogue to the strip after it’s been released into the wild. It’s okay, no need to worry. I do this often. If you visit the site late at night and check the next morning, the caption may be altered.

Why am I doing this?

It’s going to sound kinda weird, but I tend to think better under pressure. Sometimes words / punchlines don’t hit when the comic is in the incubation phase. I know I’m close, but not quite there. Posting up a comic online gives me the pressure to rework and tweak a comic.

At first, this really bothered me. Now I’m getting used to it. It’s not such a bad thing, given that, heck – you’re getting this for free anyway. Think of it this way: you’re seeing the various drafts of the comic BEFORE it makes it into the next book. I’m just making my various edits live on the ‘net. You can see it: warts and all.

Bottom line: If a punchline’s not working, check back again – it may have changed.

Hope that adds some meaning to the madness.

P.S., I’ve added a New Readers page to better assist people who are just discovering the strip for the first time. Take a look and let me know if I need to add anything.

Thanks!

That’s what I love about webcomics. We can redo whenever we want!

I’ve realized that unlimited redos can also be a bad thing. Sometimes, I don’t know when to stop, knowwhatimean? :)

Tell me what you think!
