Developing Your Webcartooning Chops

I fully plan to create a few how-to’s and tutorials on the subject of creating webcomics. I have an older step-by-step method documented already, but it was written a while back and is starting to show its age. While I get my bearings on putting a few new tutorials together, here are a few great links that I’ve found that will give you a good start. I’m always open to other recommended sites, so feel free to add yours in the Comments below.

Copper – Step by Step – a fairly in-depth look into Kazu Kibiushi’s workflow in creating a Copper comic. As an admirer of both his storytelling ability as well as excellence in his craft, it was a treat to see how such a wonderful comic gets put together.

Coloring BONE – Steve Hamaker, famed colorist for Jeff Smith’s BONE comic series, gives a peek into his coloring process. Steve’s even posted videos of the process in his latest blog entries. Nifty!

PolyKarbon – in addition to covering the basics (how to draw hands, feet, etc.), several steps in the comic workflow are discussed. What I particularly found useful were the numerous Photoshop tutorials on how to create various types of effects (energy blasts, rain, speed lines, etc.).

Those are my picks. What are yours?
