40 years ago on July 20, 1969, was a historic day for mankind. It’s clearly amazing what those NASA engineers could do back then. And to think that even the slowest machines we have now are much more powerful than even the most powerful machines back then.
Astounding, isn’t it?

July 20, 2009 at 8:19 amThanks for posting this Krishna….I remember that evening very well….I was 8 and the entire family was around the TV watching every moment of the Man’s First Walk on the Moon…..It was one of the few times at that age I stayed up that late and I never felt like falling asleep…..I was excited that entire day and you could not have gotten me to fall asleep if you tried, well that is until they went back into the Eagle….I passed out rather quickly after that.

July 20, 2009 at 8:25 amI was four, and vaguely remember watching the landing with my parents. By the time I was six, though I was hooked on the space program and watched every launch they showed on TV.
I still have the calculator my parents gave me for Christmas when I was 9. It is solar powered, very basic, and very expensive for the day (1974).

July 21, 2009 at 12:39 amThanks for the Apollo 11 post, K. We need all the help we can get with publicity. (We got the toilet fixed today as well, and only had to remove and replace 5 parts to do it.) :-)
