Letting my trekkie flag fly

Yes, I admit it: I’m a Trekkie. Not a “hard-core” one- I don’t dress up or speak Klingon. But I think that Star Trek is possibly the best franchise in television history. My daughter is well aware of this and  in some ways she is a milder version of me when it comes to all things Trek. She once dressed up as a Borg drone for halloween and she had a picture of Data on her notebook in third grade. Yesterday she and her fiancé gave me one of the best birthday gifts ever: this 1970s-era Star Trek cup they found at a local vintage store. I don’t know much about it. The copyright date for the art says “1975.” The bottom is stamped “deka- Elizabeth, NJ.” I’m sure curious about the origins of this cup. Wherever it came from, it now graces the surface of my new standing desk and I just had to share it.

Are you enjoying Star Trek: Discovery and The Orville as much as I?

I haven’t seen Discovery yet. I’m pretty miffed with CBS making it available only through All-Access and then having the nerve to charge even more if you want to see it ad-free. So as much as I want to see it, I’m going to wait and see if it becomes available another way.

The Oreville is amusing, but I’ve only seen a little bit.

Tell me what you think!
