Now that I’ve had a chance to clean up the clutter, it’s time for a studio tour. Come on in and make yourselves at home.
First stop, my Etherington Bros. print, recently framed and hung.
The biggest change to the studio was my closet space. In the old configuration, it was a mess. There was a wire-frame rack, a book shelf, and a whole lot of wasted space.
Here’s what it look like after taking everything out.
With the help of a friend, we ripped out the old wireframe hanger and in five sets of bookshelves.
Here’s what the new closet area looks like now. The top most shelf was placed such that it would be out of direct view – so that it can be used for storage. The entire project, with materials came out to $250. The new shelf setup has allowed me to better organize the stuff I used to keep on my desks. Above the closet are a few neatly framed comic books, hung using IKEA’s NYTTJA frames.
The rear of the studio is my music area, where I have my guitar (a Fender Strat), amp, and assorted music CDs. There is also a comic book spinner rack for my regular reading fix.
In terms of hardware gear, my main rig is a Hackintosh, with 16GB of RAM, a 240GB Corsair SSD running macOS Sierra and a 120GB OWC Mercury Electra SSD for Windows 10. There’s also two standard 1TB drives for data storage. I use my 2008 Mac Pro as a server – holding all my important data.
Here’s a better view of my main desk setup. The Mac Pro runs the monitor on the far right. The middle displays (an HP ZR24w 24″ display and a Yiynova MSP19u) are connected to my Hackintosh, while the left most display (a Dell U2412M 24″ display) is connected to a 2014 Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM.
Thus far, I have no major upgrade plans in the immediate future. At some point next year, I would like to sell the Yiynova and replace it with a new Cintiq. I feel like I’m ready for a more modern display, like the forthcoming Cintiq Pro.
That about covers it. Thanks for stopping by!

November 8, 2016 at 7:52 amI agree with Matt. I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing with the closet in my office and after seeing how yours turned out, I’m far more likely to do it.
