Pixar in a Box

There’s a ton of work that goes behind the scenes in making a 3D animated film, as evidenced by any post-film credits roll. But if you want to know more about the process used to make such films, you’re in luck. The fine folks at Pixar and Khan Academy, through a sponsorship by Disney, have teamed up to produce a series of videos called “Pixar in a Box“.

Through these videos, viewers can learn more about character and environment modeling, animation, rendering and the mathematics that drive these aspects of production. I think it’s terrific that these videos highlight how math is used to solve complex problems within visualization and animation. Best of all, these videos are free to the public.

Go ahead, have a look.
