Thoughts on the Yiynova MSP19u and Windows 10

yiynova_yosemite

Sometimes you just want things to work. And then they don’t.

Such is the case with the Yiynova MSP19u tablet and Windows 10 Home edition, at least in my experience. Under Windows 10, the Yiynova stylus detects and tracks on the tablet monitor. It does not, however, work with pressure sensitivity.

The Yiynova Windows drivers error out with a message that says “Setupext.inf not found”. Without working drivers, the Yiynova does not respond to pressure sensitive input. I’ve tested both the 8.01 and 5.02f versions of the Yiynova drivers. Currently, I’ve reached out to Yiynova’s support personnel to further troubleshoot the issue. I’ll report back with answers.

In the meantime, I’ll continue working with the Yiynova on my Mac. Here’s hoping Yiynova will release updated Windows 10 drivers for their tablet monitor line soon.

Weird…I’ve had no issues using my Yiynova with Windows 10. I’m using the 5.02 driver on my big machine and the 8.01 on my laptop. It seems to work fine with both. However, I do have to use the original version of Photoshop CC as opposed to CC 2015 to get pressure sensitivity. But I think that has to do with a change Adobe made, not Windows 10, as I had a similar issue when running Windows 8.1.

That makes this all the more baffling to me. Which edition of Windows 10 are you running, Matt? I have the Home edition.

Home edition. Are you not getting pressure in all platforms you try?

I can’t even get the driver to install. :( It wants a file called setupext.inf which doesn’t exist.

That is strange. I already had the drivers installed on my system when I upgraded to 10, so maybe that’s why I didn’t have any issues. So apparently they will work with 10, but installing them in 10 appears to be another story. I assume you downloaded these directly from Yiynova’s website?

Yep! I installed them from Yiynova’s website. I also tried installing them from The Panda City site (the distributors of the Yiynova model here in the US) but no go. Apparently a fresh install of Windows 10 is causing a conflict with installing the latest drivers. Here’s hoping it will be resolved soon.

Yeah, it sounds like the problem is W10. When googling this issue, I also came across a number of people who were having problems with Windows 10 and Wacom tablets. At least you have a work around for now!

Tell me what you think!
