I attended Megacon in Orlando, FL this past Sunday. I spent a brief, but busy 3 hours before having to leave, but in that time I met a lot of interesting people.
When I go to these shows, especially within the last two years, I don’t go with the intent of collecting comics – I go specifically to meet other artists. I spent most of my brief visit in the Artist Alley area – totally bypassing the booth with all the pros. I had wanted to meet Paul Pelletier and David Finch, but didn’t get a chance. I did have the pleasure of once again meeting Owly creator Andy Runton. I purchased a few things from his booth to give as gifts to my family. Andy’s one of the coolest pros I know, and I really enjoyed catching up with him.
In a way I’m glad I came back home early. I’d been up taking care of Sonia earlier that morning and was already pretty wiped out before going to the show. Plus I had some freelance projects to finish when I returned back.
Maybe next year I’ll be able to go for a longer period of time…
