Review: Imprint CumulusPRO Anti-Fatigue Comfort Mat

One week later, I’m seeing (and feeling) the benefits of working at my standing desk. It’s helping my posture (no more slouching) and I seem to have more energy now. In short, I am happy I made the switch. Standing at my desk is great, but I haven’t completely forsaken my chair: I still need to sit when I draw.

If you’re new to a standing desk (like me), it’s only natural that you might experience some leg and foot fatigue – particularly if you’re coming from a sedentary lifestyle.

I stand (either barefoot or with socks) on a carpeted surface. Within a few days of using my standing desk, I started experiencing some soreness and tenderness on my calf muscles and feet. Digging around on the Internet led me to the wacky world of anti-fatigue mats. Like standing desks, anti-fatigue mats are a cottage industry in and of themselves. My research led me to the Imprint CumulusPro Comfort Mat ($99 on Amazon).

The CumulusPRO anti-fatigue mat is a commercial grade product that’s offered with a 10 year warranty. It’s environmentally friendly (no toxins!), endorsed by the ACA (American Chiropractic Association) AND it’s been tested and certified by the National Floor Safety Institute.

So I bit the bullet and ordered one for myself.

Two days later, the CumulusPRO arrived in a custom-sized flat box. As for the mat itself, it is a solid, one-piece of polyurethane construction and measures 24″ x 36″ x 3/4″ thick. The surface is anti-microbial, waterproof, washable and resistant to stains. The beveled edges keep feet from accidentally getting stubbed and the “no curl design” prevents the mat from sliding . The CumulusPRO also comes in different colors and sizes (I ordered black).

So, how is it, then?

Standing on the CumulusPRO, my feet immediately felt the difference. My wife wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so I let her test it while she was cooking dinner. (To make a long story short: I had to pry it away from her because she didn’t want to give it back. Now she wants her own CumulusPRO.)

Yes, the CumulusPRO is hella comfortable to stand on, particularly if you stand for a few hours at a time. Using this mat has noticeably curtailed my leg and foot fatigue. (NOTE: Leg and foot fatigue will still happen over time with ANY mat, but this one does a terrific job of minimizing it.)

At $99, Imprint’s offering is pricey, especially when compared to other mats in the same size. But the CumulusPRO comes with a 10 year warranty, a 100% lifetime satisfaction guarantee and a promise from the manufacturer that their mat won’t lose support over time.

Bottom line: If you have a standing desk, you’d do well to consider the CumulusPRO. Your feet and legs will thank you. The Imprint CumulusPRO Anti-Fatigue Comfort Mat earns a 5 out of 5 Bob Weiners rating.

Pretty good mat, make sure not to buy directly from the company, they ripped me off pretty badly on shipping and I then received a call from UPS telling me that I would owe more upon arrival!
