Review: EGGCR Cable Organizer and Desktop Cord Holder

Chances are, if you have a computing rig, you’ve got cables that need to be attached and detached. Maybe you’re connecting a smartphone up… or a thumb drive, or even power for your notebook. In my experience, these are the types of cables that tend to slip off the desk after they’ve served their specific task. Imagine having to crawl underneath your desk to fish out the cable each time it falls down. What I needed was a cord holder, to keep my cables and cords on my desk.

After all, life’s too short to keep bending down to search for errant cables and cords. After reading many reviews, I invested in a set of small cord holders from EGGCR for the price of $26 on Amazon. The set arrived last night and I wanted to share my thoughts on them.

Unlike conventional, adhesive-based cord holders which limit placement (and are also messy to remove), the EGGCR unit is held down by its weight (160g). It feels durable, thanks to its density and silicon material and, in my testing, is heavy enough to support up to 4 cables (i.e. USB cables, laptop power cables, FireWire cables, and even audio cables). For those that are sensitive to odors and smells that emanate from new products – good news – the EGGCR unit is completely odor-free. Furthermore, the cord holder’s silicon structure makes it safe to place on wood, glass, rubber, and metal surfaces.

Here you can see the EGGCR cord holder next to my Apple Watch to get a sense of scale. If you’re on the go, the EGGCR unit travels well, taking up very little space.

There’s not much else to say here, except for the fact that I don’t understand some of these product names. “EGGCR” is a pretty lousy name, in my opinion. How about something that rolls off the tongue, like “Cord Buddy”?

But I digress…

The EGGCR cord holder is a good choice to both organize and keep your cables stationary on your desk. You really can’t go wrong buying a set of these, unless you actually prefer to crawl around underneath your desk.
