Windows 10 Version 1809 Rolls Out Today

Well, folks, Windows 10 version 1809 (codename Redstone 5) started rolling out today. There’s been a lot of chatter about when this version would be released to the general public, but I can confirm that today’s the day as I checked for updates and my system started automatically downloading it. That doesn’t mean you’ll get it right away as, in typical Microsoft fashion, it will be rolled out in phases. Frankly, I was surprised to see that it was offered today for me.

Whatever the case, I’m going to go a bit out on a limb and run the update so I can report back to you on how it went and if it seems to be working smoothly. So stay tuned.

By the way, if you are planning on updating, make sure you have at least 20 GB free space on your installation drive. Microsoft released a warning that it won’t update properly and possibly not function if you have less than that. Oddly, the update won’t look at your HD and warn you, so I’m letting you know now.

Matt
