Review: Mosiso Sleeve Bag

Whether I’m meeting clients onsite or teaching between two campuses, I’m almost always toting my 13″ Macbook Pro. To keep it safe from scratches and jostles while on the go, I needed a laptop sleeve. And so my research began…

As might be expected, the laptop sleeve market is inundated with hundreds of different makes and models. My requirements were fourfold.

1) It should be light and slim to carry.
2) It should comfortably house my Macbook Pro.
3) It should provide excellent protective padding.
4) It should have a comfortable, textured grip.

After spending a few days in research mode, I opted to go with the Mosiso 13″ Diamond Foam Water Repellent and Shock Resistant Lycra Sleeve Bag, which sells for $12.99 on Amazon. The Mosiso sleeve comes in black, blue, pink, purple, green and silver. I opted for the silver unit.

The Mosiso Sleeve measures in at 12.99″ x .79″ x 9.45″ (interior) with exterior dimensions of 13.78″ x 0.79″ x 10.4″. It’s designed to hold most popular 13″ laptop / notebook / ultrabook models, including the 13″ Macbook Pro, 13″ Macbook Air, and 12.9″ iPad Pro.

For $12.99, you get the sleeve and a matching small pouch. The smaller pouch is meant for holding miscellaneous nick-nacks, like USB cables, Mac and iPhone / iPad power supplies and/or headphones.

The first thing I noticed about the Mosiso Sleeve is its textured surface, which makes it very easy and comfortable to grip and carry.

The Sleeve comes with two zippers. They open and close smoothly.

The Mosiso Sleeve has padding on both interior sides. Each side is roughly .25″ thick.

Placing my 13″ Macbook Pro was a breeze. At no point did my laptop come in contact with the zipper teeth, whether I was putting the laptop in or removing it from the sleeve. In my tests, zipping and unzipping the Mosiso Sleeve was a breeze. There is no need to worry that the zipper teeth will come into contact with the laptop when zipping or unzipping the sleeve.

Below is a size comparison showing the 13″ Macbook Pro ontop of the Mosiso Sleeve, along with e few photos showing the Sleeve open and closed.

The Mosiso Sleeve comfortably fits inside my Tom Bihn Synapse 25 backpack. It’s a breeze to take out and put back in.

The included pouch is extremely handy as well. It can comfortably fit a pair of Apple “earbuds”, two cables, a Macbook power adaptor and an iPhone power adaptor. Keeping everything consolidated makes it easier for me to find what I need when I’m traveling.

For $12.99, the Mosiso Sleeve is a great value. It’s build quality is top notch. It’s easy to grip and carry on the go, and it protects my laptop whether I’m carrying the sleeve separately or inside my backpack. The added pouch is incredibly useful as well. I’ve had the Mosiso Sleeve and pouch for two months and have taken it on a flight to Tennessee; it’s thin enough to pass through the TSA security checkpoint without having to remove my laptop, which in my view, is an added bonus.

For the reasons cited above, the Mosiso Sleeve earns a 5 out of 5 Bob Weiner rating.
