A Tribute to Enter the Dragon

I was born too late to enjoy Enter the Dragon when it was released. But as a child growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, I couldn’t help but hear about Bruce Lee. Growing up, I was bullied quite a bit. It was Bruce Lee’s films that spurred me to join martial arts in high school, which helped me gain self-confidence, discipline and physical agility.

I discovered the film “Enter the Dragon” as a teenager, and probably first saw it on VHS tape. The movie had a huge impact on me. Bruce Lee’s on screen martial arts prowess, coupled with his tougher-than-nails attitude, was everything I wanted in a hero. I’ve since bought and watched the film numerous times over the past 20 years; even my daughter Sonia is a Bruce Lee fan.

Tonight I worked on a few portrait illustrations featuring Bruce Lee’s co-stars in the film, John Saxon and Jim Kelly. At some point, I’d like to create a third image featuring Bruce Lee, with the goal of creating a triptych composition.
