On Creativity and Writer’s Block

zelda

The first in a series of videos (maybe?) where I chat about topics that are on my mind. This time around, topics near and dear to me: creativity, writing for an audience, and writer’s block.

This video-cast is a bit of an experiment, and I’m enjoying it. Let me know if you want more.

    Hi Krishna,

Although I’m not a cartoonist, my work involves a fair bit of creativity. Writers block is always an issue. It’s unfortunate, but so true, that there’s really nothing more to it than to simply sit down and put something on paper / screen. No matter how dissatisfied you’re with the end result; it’s always better than doing nothing at all. And most of the time something comes out that is actually usable and good enough.
I’m a perfectionist, but learned that especially when you get paid doing something creative; “good enough” often means food on the table and a happy customer, while waiting for inspiration for something better often means missed deadlines, and an unhappy customer because of that.

I do have a bit of friendly (and funny!) advice for you, when it comes to the format of your video podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt9zSfinwFA&feature=kp

    Keep up the good work!

    Björn

Yep – there is always a tradeoff. Sometimes good enough is what allows the project to be turned in on time. Re: filming landcscape. Noted. (and a great laugh on that video, too) :)

      Thanks, Björn!
