After years of struggling with routing and affixing cables to my desk so that they don’t slip off, I devised a home-made solution that cost me less than 15 cents.
The standard bulldog clip does a wonderful job as a cord / cable holder. It’s perfect to keep your cables within arm’s reach, and also very handy as a temporary cable holder when routing cables that have trouble staying on your desk surface.

It’s especially useful for the Ethernet and power cables for the laptop I *sometimes* use with the same keyboard, monitor, and mouse I normally use for my Mac Mini.
