Review: Snugg iPad2 Case & Stand

Truth be told, I hadn’t heard of the Snugg line of tablet and phone cases until a representative from their company approached me a few weeks back requesting for a review of one of their products.

As a consummate tech hound, I happily obliged their request – and a few days later, I was in possession of the Snugg iPad2 Case and Stand.

The Snugg case is comprised of PU (poly synthetic) leather. This material, while not genuine leather – is waterproof for the most part and easily cleaned. The material is textured, making it easy to grip.

Aesthetically, the case looks handsome, with a solid fit and finish.

The case contains a velcro flap that’s used to secure the device within the case.

The iPad fits in the case with minimal effort. The fit itself is snug, and provides easy access to the home button and front mounted camera. The front portion of the case has small embedded magnets to keep the flap secure. In my experience, it offers an ever-so-slight resistance to opening, but it in no way impacts speedy access to the device.

As far as features go, in addition to protecting your iPad, the Snugg iPad2 case can be positioned to serve as an upright stand (in landscape mode). There are no directions on how to do this, but the back flap of the case latches into the inside front cover. With the latch in place, the iPad is secure. The portrait option is surprisingly sturdy as well. The interior of the case is soft, so you don’t have to worry about scratches. It does tend to pick up dust pretty easily, however.

The Snugg case also comes with a built-in loop at the top to fasten a pen or stylus. In my experience, it works well for traditional pens and styli.

Furthermore, the case allows for easy access to all of the iPad’s ports. Frankly, I wouldn’t purchase any case that didn’t have this accommodation.

The Snugg iPad2 case retails for $50, and comes with a lifetime guarantee. The cost seems reasonable for what it does. It’s easy to tote around and looks stylish. It doesn’t add too much to the iPad’s already svelte weight.

It’s too early to tell how this case will fare under substantial use, but my main concern would be the susceptibility of the stitch fraying over time. I’ll write an addendum to this review after a few months to note any further observations.

Based on its looks and its practical features, the Snugg iPad2 case is a good case to consider for protecting your iPad. It earns 4.5 out of 5 Bob Weiners.

As of this writing, it’s on sale at Amazon. Snugg offers cases for iPhones, iPads and even Samsung Galaxy products, so there’s something for everyone who owns a tablet or smartphone device.
