Mac App Store Fail?

Mac App Store FAIL

“Sign in to (null) to update applications for that account.”

I received the above error message from the Mac App store this morning when attempting to update Pages ’08 on my Macbook Pro to Pages ’11. I first installed Pages ’11 on my Mac Pro. However, when I attempted to install the same software on my Macbook Pro, I received the error above. Both machines are registered under the same Apple ID.

Have you encountered this error? What’s the fix?

Krishna

Update: This problem seems to have something to do with Pages ’08 already having been installed on my Macbook Pro. I was able to install Pages ’11 on Aarti’s Macbook Pro without any issues. I may try uninstalling Pages on my Macbook Pro and try a clean install. In the meantime, I hope Apple is working on a fix.

Update 2: Solved! Move your old apps to the Trash, quit and relaunch the Mac App Store, and the installation should now take place. Tip o’ the hat to Briweed!

I actually had the same issue with iphoto. I fixed it by placing my old iphoto application from the applications folder into the trash. Then re-started App store application and status changed from update (when pressed got the same error) to Install.

    Hope this helps.
