For those who have been following my saga…
My third Samsung 305T arrived today. I had to go to the nearest UPS Store to pick it up. I noticed that the box was much better packed. The displays were exchanged at the store, so I wound up bringing home only the monitor.
I placed the unit inside my car’s trunk and drove home incredibly slowly, so as to avoid subjecting my “new” display to bumps and bruises. Thankfully, the UPS Store is practically a stone’s throw from where I live, so the monitor arrived home intact.
It’s been a few minutes since I attached the 305T to my Mac Pro. Off the bat, the monitor’s brightness needed to be adjusted – no biggie. The real test would be whether or not new video artifacts would show up.
I’m pleased to report that they didn’t. The display appears to be uniformly bright, with no trace of video garbage on the screen. I’ll continue to observe the display over the next few days, just to be on the safe side.
Samsung’s customer service throughout this entire incident was stellar – despite the hiccups I’ve had with their product. Here’s hoping this replacement lasts a very long time.
