Over the years I’ve grown to know a handful of my readers. Of those few, very few have crossed that chasm of ‘fan’ to ‘friend’ – and Jason Reed, from Germany, is one of those readers. Jason was instrumental in starting the Facebook group “I Love PC Weenies“, without any prompting from myself. This was a really, really benevolent gesture on his part, and I wanted to thank him for his efforts by creating his very own PC Weenies Guest-Star comic.
Here’s what Jason wrote, in his own words:
Thanks again for offering me a Guest Appearance in PC Weenies. I’m actually pretty excited to see myself as a toon ;). As a technical profession I work in a company that builds communication systems. I’m in the development department so I’m working with software mostly. I really don’t have an official title any longer (it was Training Supervisor when I was in the training department) so I title myself “Professional Geek” because basically my job is to get software from different vendors to work happily in the same network of machines. I mostly deal with our proprietary messaging software and the databases it runs with along with other software that supports it.
As for hobbies, I’m a computer programmer hobbyist where I’ve taught myself PHP and VB.NET. I also have a hobby of medieval history where I like to dress up in costume and sometimes armor and do things as they did in that time.
Jason provided some photos of him in his medieval costume, and that served as the inspiration behind today’s comic. I hope you enjoy today’s ‘toon!

P.S. Jason’s entry has been added to the ever illustrious Guest-Star Wall o’ Fame.

April 11, 2008 at 10:38 am‘medieval’ is one of the weirdest words to spell correctly.

April 11, 2008 at 1:22 pmYou think spelling it correctly is hard….Try using it in print to explain your hobby. Most folks see the last part of the word and think “EVIL”. So we say Middle Ages.
So Jason…do you go to things other than Ren Fairs??? (I ask this since the Helm face guard looked very much like my own)

April 11, 2008 at 1:25 pmI use to play SCA a bit but with two young children it is difficult to get to events that are kid friendly here in Germany. So I do some non-SCA stuff when I can. My wife is also a big fan of medieval history.
