Goodbye Pismo… Hello iMac?

This morning I mailed out my beloved Pismo laptop. Purchased in January 2001, the Pismo gave me 5 years of solid service. It was the very first Mac I installed Mac OS X on (10.1) back in the day. It was also the first laptop I used when chatting with Aarti across the Internet, back before we got married. Sentimentalities aside, I’m glad the Pismo is going to find a good home with its new owner.

This year I’m planning to save up for a 24″ iMac.

That’s right, an iMac.

I think that the current generation iMacs are more than capable enough to handle my artistic endeavors. Stacked up against my Dual 2GHz g5, I’m sure the new iMac will definitely be a step up. (iMac readers, please chime in!)

How do I plan to make this new iMac a reality? Glad you asked.

In the near future, I plan on selling some original PC Weenies art. Some of it will be pencil sketches, others will be inked (traditionally). I’m also planning to sell prints of PC Weenies comic strips (anything in the archives is up for grabs). If you’re interested in buying a signed 8″ x 10″ print of any of the single panel comics, I’m selling prints for $10 a pop.

Then there’s the Guest-Star Service – which starts at $20 – the perfect unique gift custom crafted for your friends and loved ones. There’s also the Site Sponsors page. For as little as $70 , you can sponsor the site for 6 months and have a link to your company on pcweenies.com. For $120, you can have the whole year ($10 a month).

I couldn’t have come this far without the tremendous support I’ve received from readers over the years. Thank you for helping make my cartoonist dreams a reality!

re iMac’s: I’ve used an iMac since 2000. My current one is a G5, but I wish I had waited and bought an Intel chipset–at the time I wasn’t so sure how well the Intel chips would go over, so I decided to wait. I was convinced as soon as they came out. The new iMacs I’ve seen in the store are sweet: fast, good looking, all around great machines. I’m still happy with my G5, so I’ll hang on to it for a couple more years. It’s a 24″. I like the screen size, just right for me. I’m not interested in swapping cards out every few months to improve this or that–had enuf of that when I was using a PC, so I don’t need a tower Mac. I think you’ll be happy with it.

The iMac is looking more and more tempting each day I check it out. The one thing holding me back is that I have been lusting after a 30″ display for quite some time… since I don’t upgrade computers too often (my last desktop purchase was in 2003) I want to get the most bang for the buck. Decisions, decisions…

Tell me what you think!
