Guest-Strip: Mark Rudolph!

My month long break from the PC Weenies starts today (in case you haven’t heard, we’re moving), but that doesn’t mean the comics have to stop. Stepping in with today’s Angry Birds themed ‘toon is the inimitable Mark Rudolph.

Mark’s range of comics and illustration work is incredible. Do check out his portfolio site to see his work, and buy one of his books while you’re at it. If you like sci-fi with a mix of the Twilight Zone thrown in for good measure, I’d recommend War, John Oxbow. If you’re a fan of metal, you owe it to yourself to check out Mark’s recently published illustration book on the subject.

Mark maintains a process blog where he’s sharing a behind-the-scenes look at his first long form graphic novel-in-progress, Subterra.

I’m still in Dearborn, Michigan – leaving back for Tampa later this morning. Kids Read Comics was a terrific event, and I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with some terrific cartoonists! Specific updates about the event (with photos) will come later this week, when I return home…

In the meantime, I was incredibly fortunate to receive this wonderful guest-strip from the talented Scott Hallett. Be sure to check out the incredible gallery of artwork he’s posted on his site.

Guest-Strip: Rasmus Pettersson

I’m extremely pleased and honored to share today’s guest-strip with you, which comes by way of the mind-blowing talent that is the ever-unstoppable Rasmus Pettersson.

Rasmus, who hails from Sweden, writes and draws Glitchtown, a surreal look into the lives of three test subjects: Isaac, Leslie and Houston (They think they are in a webcomic) ;)

In fact, if you look closely at today’s strip, you can see Leslie make a cameo appearance in the first panel. And as an added bonus, you can catch Bob in Monday’s Glitchtown comic.

Rasmus really sets the bar high with his take on The PC Weenies. Thanks again, Rasmus, for knocking this one outta the park! :)

If you haven’t heard of Rasmus Pettersson then you are missing out on one talented cartoonist. Hailing from Sweden, Rasmus is the creative brainchild behind GlitchTown. If his name sounds eerily familiar, earlier this week, Rasmus translated one of my ‘toons to Swedish.

Now go read Glitchtown!

Today’s guest-strip was submitted by Steve Napierski, the talented cartoonist behind Dueling Analogs and The Outer Circle.

Steve’s off-beat sense of humor makes for fine comics, and I chuckled at the innuendo he suggests within today’s PCW. Take a look at Steve’s work – and drop him a line with your thoughts on his comics.
While browsing his work, you may even find a few guest-strips that I drew for him, tucked away in his archives.

Guest-Strip by Jerzy Drozd and Mark Rudolph

As I promised earlier, this week (M,T,W,Th) will feature guest-strips from some truly talented cartoonists from all across the web. Friday will feature a Halloween-themed ‘toon by yours truly.

Today’s ‘toon comes to you via Jerzy Drozd and Mark Rudolph.

You can check out more of Jerzy’s comics at MLATcomics. Mark’s comics can be found at CV Comics. Their work can also be seen at Sugary Serials. Both Jerzy and Mark specialize in long-form, serialized comics, so it was doubly awesome for me to see their collaboration in a strip format. What was even more impressive is that both guys took time out of their incredibly hectic schedules to make today’s comic. I think they both did a terrific job – I can’t thank them enough.

I first came across Jerzy and Mark via their Art & Story podcast a few months ago. If you make comics, you need to listen to their podcast. I’ve benefited greatly from the discussions and creator interviews they have, whether it be on panel layout, character design, or any other comic making subject. It’s one of my top three podcasts I listen to each week.

From time to time, I participate in their live sister-podcast, Art & Story Alive, which runs every Monday afternoon at 5PM EST on Talkshoe.com. I’d like to tip my hat to both gentlemen for making a fantastic strip that truly made me smile. Please share your comments on the strip below, and better yet – visit their sites and give them some feedback!
