When I was employed by the city-block-sized accounting department of a major shipping company I was advised by a dedicated slacker in my department to walk with determination around the facility, carrying something-a large envelope, a clutch of files, or a medium sized box, looking as if I was performing an important task. He pointed out that there should be something IN the envelope or box. If it was a box, he said, it usually included a stapler.
