What are your favorite perks at work?
Update: New UNcubed posted this morning as well.
My favorite Perk at work, you ask? Well, I’m a third shift Security Guard, so I would have to say that it’s getting paid to sit and read.
I work at walmart, so probably the hourly beatings. They’re way better than the daily acid baths . . .
We just got word that a new company is taking over our on campus cafeteria and fountain drinks are going to be free. I don’t drink a ton of soda anymore, but free fountain drinks might get me started back up again.
Flexible schedule. I have to stick to my approved office hours, and of course to to class, but if I need to leave early one day, I just make up the other hours on another day and no one cares.
The best perk, though, is I’m one of two people in my department trained on Sim Man: a computerized medical manikin used for training doctors and nurses. He’s very realistic and responds to the care the students give me. If they really screw up, I can make Sim Man die. Bwhahahahahahah!
I wouldnt mind having a job like that too!!!
Free food and drinks (while nice) can be trappings to keep one at work. Agree?
we have a pool table, a wii, and a ping pong table
First of all the comic was great. I felt like that trying to get into Cartoon… (that place is awesome!) So (for now… I’ll be back Cartoon) I work at GA Tech in the I.T. department and we get to use the latest tech stuff… We all just got the new MBP’s 17″ in two days ago. I think testing and using the equipment is cool and free education (geared towards you profession). Later Krish!
As a teacher, there’s not a lot of free perks. Although I can install Office2003 for free on my home PC as part of our school license, I prefer to use OpenOffice.org. Heh. However, I have free access to the Tech Books collection at Books 24/7 which is quite helpful.
at work today i got a free massage, which was cool in concept but would it be complaining too much to say that it wasn’t very good? great strip, man!
Not having to wear pants.
I work at a cinema and so I can sit in on all the Movies. Also yester day we discovered that all the Fanta in the drinks chiller was out of date and so I went home with a half dozen bottles of Fanta under my arms.
Like one of the posters from above, my office has a really flexible work schedule, as long as I get my hours in there is no really hard and fast schedule. Plus, since I am in IT, I get access top all sorts of cool tech gadgets :-)
A work truck that I can use for personal use (within reason of course).
And being able to use contruction equipment for personal projects. :) (bobcat/small excavators etc)
I work for myself. There are no perks, except that if I need to take time off, I don’t have to submit a request.
LOL, oh to work at a place like google. I actually have a friend that does. We all hate him, out of pure jealously.
Perks at a snack food company? free soft pretzels, and lots of ’em. Carb-tastic!
My software office here in India offers free, fast weight loss, via the hot drink machines maintained by the office boys who don’t wash their hands between using the bathrooms and filling the machines with coffee, tea and super-sweetened milk powder…
Other entertaining perks are the elevators with the lights that stop and start frequently and turn dark like a horror movie when the power goes out multiple times a day. It’s even more like a horror movie when someone’s in it who gets scared and screams…
