I like the new Outlook… a LOT – and I never would have tried it, if it weren’t for my wife. You see, Aarti’s been a Hotmail user since before we met. Yesterday morning, coincidentally, she was having issues with her Hotmail account. Apparently her account had been hijacked and she was trying (in vain) to locate the “Change Password” option.
As the tech guy in our house, I came down to assist. I spent at least 5 minutes trying to find the change password setting. Aarti was on the verge of switching to G-mail and closing her Hotmail account for good when I stumbled upon the new Microsoft Outlook.
I switched Aarti over from Hotmail to Outlook and I have to say, I was really impressed. Outlook is everything Hotmail isn’t: it’s clean, it’s uncluttered, and the most commonly accessed options are in easy reach.
I was impressed – so much so that I opened a new Outlook account. So, all kidding with the comic strip above, I am genuinely impressed with Microsoft this time around. They did good!
I won’t be switching my G-mail accounts just yet. But I am most curious to see how Google responds to MS’s efforts. Either way, the consumer will win.
