My top secret (well, not so top-secret, I guess) project is keeping me hella busy. I’m under the gun to get it finished before June 11th, so publishing comics here will be shaky this week and next week. Thanks for your patience.

A Signature Experience

I’m taking a quick detour from the storyline to address a tech topic that’s been weighing on my mind: Microsoft Signature.

So, here’s what it is:

In a nutshell, you can buy a MS Windows PC directly from their store without any trialware or crapware pre-installed. Each Windows Signature PC comes pre-tuned and optimized for the hardware it’s on. In other words, the way it should be sold. But if you didn’t buy a PC directly from the MS store you get to PAY Microsoft for the privilege of having all that crapware removed for the grand price of $99. Amazing.

Too bad the Windows signature PCs are still littered with stickers across them. Nascar anyone?

Party Time

On Friday, I presented a brief look at how I make comics to a very engaged audience at the Safety Harbor Public Library. It was my first time in Safety Harbor; it’s a little gem of a town tucked away in Florida – scenic and tranquil.

But I digress! There was quite a good turn-out for this inaugural event. Gina Bingham, of the Safety Harbor Public Library, did a fantastic job – she really made me feel welcome!

There were teens, adults and kids that attended – and a host of terrific questions were asked in the open Q-n-A session.

The highlight of the whole event, for me, was meeting comics legend Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. I had absolutely no idea they were in my neck of the woods!

Both Jimmy and Amanda have a rather lengthy and impressive list of work (you should totally keep an eye out for their latest projects!). I really enjoyed chatting with them both.

Chastity’s Dilemma

Just a heads-up on a few things:

I plan to wrap up the Mentor Experiment really, really soon. (I promise!) You may have noticed that I haven’t been blogging or tweeting as much as I have in the past. The reason for that is quite simple: I’ve been slammed with illustration / comics gigs. (It’s a good problem to have.)

One of my upcoming gigs will be illustrating a story for Secret Identities, the Asian American Superhero Anthology. I’m super stoked about that project! I’ve got a few other gigs that I’ve wrapped up, one of which will hopefully be online later this month.

Lastly, this evening, I’ll be delivering a small presentation on making digital comics / webcomics at the Safety Harbor Public Library. The event starts at 6PM – hope to see some Tampa bay PCW fans while I’m there. I’ll have books for sale, along with prints and a few ultra rare PCW posters for sale. You should stop by and say hi!
