Savoring the Journey of a Chevy Nova Restoration

I’ve been obsessed with cars since I was a young boy. Since the time I first wielded a Matchbox car, I’ve held a car fantasy of finding and fully restoring a long-relegated vehicle from the junkyard. While I lack the skill, time, tools and financial means to ever embark on such an endeavor, I take great satisfaction in seeing others who not only share similar fantasies, but can actually fulfill them.

Trooper Max is on a quest to find a Chevy Nova to restore. His YouTube channel, Subdivisions Auto, chronicles his journey as a first-time auto restorer. I recommend starting with Rustorations Volume 1, which focuses on the ups and downs of his search to find a worthy candidate.

Trooper’s film-making and editing sets his channel apart from many of the other auto restoration channels. It is clearly evident that a lot of care and craft has gone into producing his videos. Trooper is not only a clear, engaging speaker in front of the camera, he is also a skilled storyteller behind the camera. As a first-time automobile restorer, he shares what he has learned at each and every step of his restoration process. He celebrates his wins, and doesn’t hide from his mistakes. The result of his efforts is a strong narrative component that really pulls the viewer in.

New videos are published to YouTube very few weeks, but if you are new to his channel, there is plenty of quality content to get you up to speed. Savor the journey. You won’t be disappointed.
