Bad video artifacts are resurfacing on my (now) 4th Samsung 305T 30″ display. It’s covered under warranty, so I’ve shipped the unit back to the manufacturer. Going from two displays down to one has been somewhat of an adjustment, but I’ll have to limp along like this until the replacement Samsung display arrives.
If I ever decide to buy new displays at some point in the future, I’m going to go with two 24″ displays instead of a 30″ display.

Yeah Samsung has never been a fav of mine. Apple displays are (too me) by far the best (too expensive for by blood right now though), but Dell has delivered really good displays recently and they are at a very good price. 2 – 24′s sound good!! Hope you get better results on the 5th go around…
I have a lot of Samsung monitors in a large enterprise, they worked great for a few years but we are seeing a very high failure rate. They are out of warranty at this point… Looked up your model of Samsung 305T 30″ and found Amazon negative reviews with some folks have 4 dud monitors in a row and having to contact their executive level support to receive proper warranty replacement or even a refund months after returning the monitor and sending in all the relevant paperwork. Far too many instances of zero response after reporting a problem, etc. At least with Apple, you will get speedy response. HP monitors are more reliable and of high quality. I hate DELL because I don’t want to look at their logo while attached to a beautiful Mac Pro! If they sold monitors without the logo, I would consider it.
Thanks, James. I’m definitely planning to look at other options when the time comes to replace my displays.
The two issues I have with Apple monitors are the proprietary mini-port display connector and the glossy screen. As a former Apple Cinema Display owner (the bevel model), I’ve been burnt once with a proprietary connector. Never more…
Krishna – the Mini DisplayPort is now part of the VESA standard for the DisplayPort specs. Anyone can use it as long as they follow the rules.
