Things aren’t looking good for our favorite gadget junkies, now that Pam’s put her foot down…
I was originally planning to run this on Friday, but since it’s Memorial Day weekend, and most of my fellow US friends will be on holiday, I’m running it today. I’m taking the weekend off to head up to Washington DC with my family.
Speaking of comics, if you head over to the Other World Computing blog, you’ll see the 2nd installment of my comic, “The Other World”, featuring Globeman, the mascot of Other World Computing (our site sponsor!). Feel free to drop by the blog and tell ‘em you want to see more of my comics!
Next week, I’ve drawn a few single panel PCW ‘toons (newly redrawn and tweaked) to tide you guys over until I catch up from vacation. If you like today’s comic, please Social Network the heck out of it. Bob and company need some love.
Thanks!

Yesterday’s survey seemed to indicate that the vast majority of readers identify with Bob (a staggering 82%), while only 4% idenfified with Pam. Cast your vote before the weekend’s out, if you haven’t already. Geek gals, you need to represent!
And speaking of the subject header,
I recently had to reinstall Windows7 (long story, filled with trauma – but I’ll spare you the ugly details). So, I’m back to a virgin copy of Windows 7. I’ve installed 7-Zip, Google Chrome and Dropbox, but I’m looking for more. In the comments below, could you point me to some must-have freeware apps and utilities I could benefit from on that platform? I would be ever so grateful.
Thanks!

Site sponsor, Other World Computing sent the following products for me to review:
- Newer Technology MAXPower eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 card
- OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Mini external drive (500GB)
- Slim ExpressCard/34 to eSATA adaptor
The package arrived this morning. I’ll be putting these products through the paces over the next few weeks. Expect a write-up to follow.

A brand new UNcubed was posted this morning. What do I consider to be the best alarm clock ever? You’ll have to read and find out!

Bob’s selective memory resembles my own (but at least I remember the anniversaries and birthdays). ;)

Update: I was interviewed on BleedingCool – the article’s live now. In it, I debate the validity of webcomics as a business model with Eric Esquivel. Take a look!
It’s strange what lurks in the crufts of one’s hard drive. I found the image below on a random search; it was an aborted ‘toon attempt during the first few months of making PC Weenies comics.
For fun I decided to re-draw that original piece, and this is what I came up with:

Summer’s almost here, which means that convention season is now upon us.
From June 11-13th, I’ll be attending Kids Read Comics in Dearborn, Michigan. I’ll be giving two workshops on “Brainstorming Character Design”. There will be a host of comics artists giving workshops on the craft of making comics. It should be a ton of fun for the entire family. And did I mention the show is FREE? :)
In addition to giving workshops, there will be a great exhibitor section where you can purchase books and merchandise from cartoonists attending the event. I’ll have copies of “Rebootus Maximus” and the Sampler #2 on hand, so if you want to buy a copy, stop on by!
On September 10th – 12th, I’ll be at Intervention, in the Rockville, Maryland. It’s the same weekend as the Small Press Expo. Intervention will focus on workshops, exhibitions, etc. for and by webcartoonists from all over the country. I’ll be participating in the show’s panels and tabling there, too.
I’m pretty excited about both shows, and I know they’ll be a blast. If you happen to be in Michigan and Washington DC, please stop by and say hi!
