I’ve stated my thoughts on Black Friday “door buster” sales before, but I’m curious. Is this “Black Friday” craze only in the US, or has it migrated to other parts of the world?
Will you be attending Black Friday “door buster” events this year? Why or why not?

That one is easy. No, because we don’t have Black Friday (or something similar with another name) over here.
Nothing similar in spain neither.
This is the first year I’ll be in London this time of year, and I was asking my friends about it. They don’t have Black Friday over here. They do have crazy sales the day after Christmas, though.
Nothing that big in Finland I guess. We have our dates when sales are bigger than any other week/weekdays… maybe after X-Mas sales like few days after x-mas are closest to your Black Friday hype here.
There are some store chains who have maybe 1-2 week long special sales and if there are good offers (like get 3 with a price of 1 or 2 stuff) people go there like maniacs… otherwise I think Finns are pretty reasonable people in these sale & hype things…
I’ve done BF in the past, but honestly this year there aren’t any deals worth lining up for.
I shall be working. And the leave at midnight comment really isn’t going to cut it anymore, as at least 2 major retailers that i’m aware of will be opening at midnight. heck, even last year the line at my place of work started around 8pm thursday evening for a 5 am opening.
Not in Canada either, afaik, the closest we have is Boxing Day/Week sales.
Yeah, Canadian thanksgiving is on a Monday – so no day after thanksgiving sales to speak of. Boxing day can be pretty crazy, though, and it’s probably as close as we get.
I’m in the US. For Black Friday, I stay home.
Good thing, too– I heard last year, a temp clerk (a big, athletic twentysomething guy) was trampled at one store somewhere in the US… sounds serious.
In the UK, I’m not sure of a “day” like that, apart from the Boxing Day sales, but you should see it when the “Next” stores have a sale – 5am opening, and people queued up for hours to try and be the first in. Maybe I’m just cynical, but to me it seems that the things with the best discounts are those things they just couldn’t sell during the year…
I’m here in the US. I never go to Black Friday sales, not since I was a little kid. I hate shopping in the best of times. I hate the crowds, I hate the slow tellers, I hate not being able to find what I want.
Internet shopping is manna from heavan, IMHO.
And yes, I know I should turn in my gender card . . . .
i’ve gone to black friday sales the last 5-6 years, but this year, i just don’t think that there’s anything that’s really piquing my interest. i’ll probably still go just to do some christmas shopping, but i won’t be hitting it at 5am.
Neh, in Mexico there is nothing like it. It sounds crazy to me, and a little useless, at elast for us consumers. we usually prefer going out eating at 1 am…
