I discovered this one by accident…
I have commonly accessed folders in the Dock. One of those folders happens to be my “Fonts” folder. Using Stacks, I selected the Fonts folder, and saw detailed thumbnail views for all the fonts I have in my collection.
Stacks is imminently more useful in Snow Leopard. For one, you can navigate and tunnel through folders using Stacks – something that was not possible before in Leopard.
Another tip I’d like to share involves Expose. Drag the Expose application from Applications > Utiltiies onto your Dock. You have fast access to all your open and minimized windows (not only in the current window, but even other windows you’ve assigned to other Spaces). Incredibly useful.
The more I play with Snow Leopard, the more I like it.

P.S. Snow Leopard installed without incident on my early ’08 Macbook Pro. I performed the upgrade on top of the existing install. So, two out of the three Macs we own handled the upgrade smoothly.

September 4, 2009 at 11:34 pmCan’t you just use F9, F10 anfd F11 for Expose or create an alias on your desktop ?

September 5, 2009 at 8:19 amyes, I could have assigned a function key for expose but the function keys on the Mac keyboard are too small on the new Apple keyboard. Plus, with the new Apple keyboard, I’d have to hold the ‘fn’ key down as F9, F10, and F11 are assigned to Fast Forward, Mute, and Lower Volume.
I’m not a fan of aliases on my desktop. I like my desktop to only have HD icons and 2 Smart Folders.

September 5, 2009 at 6:30 amI use top right, bottom left, and bottom right hotcorners for exposé and spaces. It annoys the crap out of anyone else who uses my computer, but it’s become a staple in my workflow, and it looks cool when I drag a file from a finder window on space 5 to an application on 7, just by touching the corner of my screen with the file still dragging (using the space bar at the right moment speeds it up, too).
Top Right -> Spaces
Bottom Left -> Exposé (All Windows)
Bottom Right -> Exposé (App Windows)
Top Left is reserved for the Apple menu, and I don’t regularly use the spotlight icon in the top right, except with cmd+space, so there’s no issues with accidentally triggering them.
I’ve suprised people I work with on several occasions if they stop by my desk and see how I work… windows and desktops flying everywhere :P.
