Google announced it’s new Chrome OS last week, and much of the tech world is still unsure what to make of it.
I’ll sit on the fence and reserve judgement when Google actually shows it off. In the meantime, unless you’re a geek, Chrome OS probably means as much to you as it does Grampa. :)

P.S. This strip marks the long awaited reappearance of Robo, the Weiner’s robotic dog. (You thought I’d forgotten about him, huh?) :)

I really don’t understand all the hype.
Its just another *nix distro really.
“BUT ITS BY GOOGLE ZOMG”
It will be much more polished and stable since it is a commercial endeavor.
Yay! It’s Robo! Oh yeah, and there’s dialog in the strip, too, but mostly … IT’S ROBO!
LOL!!!! Grampa cracks me up.
He also reflects the common reaction I would expect (I could be wrong).
It will confuse some people, no doubt.
You hit it again, Krishna!
I agree krishna, not much of a big deal with google chromes latest release. In terms of engine idea google chrome has the upperhand. But I haven’t seen anything beneficial from their use of webkit engine and java v8 built in. I mean kmelon firefox and opera all use gekos rendering engine. And they run fairly smooth. Until google chrome can come out with one or two significant benchmarks and give a decent demonstration for a real world use, then I’ll just stick with opera.
Speed dial ftw :)
Chrome is absolutely faster than Firefox. Also, Firefox 3.5 is substantially slower to start than the previous version.
who cares about noodle chrome ?
ROBO is baaaack !
Gooood dog !
Darn it. My iPod didn’t send the rest of what I was saying. I was goi to mention that google os can be ported to the new asus netbook line. Which will be nice to integrate with google chrome that I mentioned above. But I still agree with Krishna. Not really sure as of yet about google os nor google chromes latest release.
Also enjoyed the comic!
lol, thanks Adrian!
*pat pat* Silly Grandpa. Haven’t seen this robo dog yet… hm…. must go research.
you won’t find Robo in any of the multi-panel strips online – the bulk of his appearances were in the single panel PCW comics. But I’m really glad to finally bring him back. :)
I’m not into this idea of moving everything to “the Cloud” which is just a shinier way of saying we’re going back to terminals and mainframes. For some people though, it won’t matter; if everything they do is online anyway.
it’s a good idea, this chrome OS, but i have no trust for google and their data collection practices. I won’t use them for search, why would i let them have a staring role on my PC.
I think it is still too early to worry about this. Once Google actually releases some screen shots or even better a video of this OS then I’ll get more excited. Right now they are just playing to the media.
