If you’ve ever gotten stuck in a drawing rut, the following exercise may be of help to you. Here’s what you do:
1. Open up a blank canvas in Photoshop or Painter.
2. Select a large width brush and draw random “blotches” on the canvas. Don’t think about it. Just do it.
3. Once you’ve got the canvas filled, go back and try to find objects and forms within them.
Using this technique, you will often surprise yourself by coming up with characters you would have never drawn before. Go ahead. Try it and let me know how you did.

Interesting. Never thought of that.
I may give it a try at some point!
Thanks for sharing this :)
Good tip… I don’t draw with Photoshop or Painter but I’ll do the same with regular ole pencil and paper.
I watched Krishna do this excercise live on Ustream. It was awesome to see him work. I will try this excercise myself, but watching it made me realize how far away I am from where I want to be. I guess that’s why excersizes exist. As much talent as Krishna has it is clear there was also a lot of work behind getting as good as he is.
