While participating in the Art & Story Alive podcast this evening, I had my sketchbook in hand. The sketches above are a byproduct of that session. The character in question is Monkey Mod, originally created and developed by the incredibly talented Kevin Cross. He and co-host Joshua Kemble also record the Big Illustration Party Time podcast, a weekly show which focuses on the ins-and-outs of freelance illustration and cartooning. I’ve been a listener since the first episode, and find the show to be both entertaining and incredibly useful.
I’m really excited that Kevin’s taking the foray into webcomics, and look forward to reading more of his incredible work. Take a peek!

P.S. Time permitting, I may ink and color the sketches above… :)
I’m tempted to start publishing new comics on Sunday night as opposed to Monday morning. That way, readers in the US can read the ‘toon while at home in the evening. Europe, Asia and Australia will get their ‘toon fix a few hours earlier than normal. What do you think?

A quick 20 minute sketch for this evening, to celebrate the end of another academic quarter. Enjoy!

Deep down I’m sure that even the mightiest “brain” likes to play pretend when nobody’s looking. We all need our own outlets, right?
Throw me some feedback on today’s strip, especially if you’re new to the PC Weenies. If you discovered the strip recently, how did you find out about it?

Bonus: Here are the pencils for today’s strip:

For those who have been following my saga…
My third Samsung 305T arrived today. I had to go to the nearest UPS Store to pick it up. I noticed that the box was much better packed. The displays were exchanged at the store, so I wound up bringing home only the monitor.
I placed the unit inside my car’s trunk and drove home incredibly slowly, so as to avoid subjecting my “new” display to bumps and bruises. Thankfully, the UPS Store is practically a stone’s throw from where I live, so the monitor arrived home intact.
It’s been a few minutes since I attached the 305T to my Mac Pro. Off the bat, the monitor’s brightness needed to be adjusted – no biggie. The real test would be whether or not new video artifacts would show up.
I’m pleased to report that they didn’t. The display appears to be uniformly bright, with no trace of video garbage on the screen. I’ll continue to observe the display over the next few days, just to be on the safe side.
Samsung’s customer service throughout this entire incident was stellar – despite the hiccups I’ve had with their product. Here’s hoping this replacement lasts a very long time.

A few more photos from Webcomics Weekend. Below is a photo of me and my roommate, cartoonist Joel Watson (Hijinks Ensue). It was very cool hanging out with Joel. I only wish I’d asked him for a HE sketch (d’oh!).
And finally we have a group of friends who let me tag along for a fun Saturday evening in North Hampton. The gentleman in the driver’s seat is Kaiki (Eric). He and Sam (pictured standing too) really helped me out during the weekend. They picked me up from the airport, took me back to my hotel room, and dropped me off at the airport. I was really blown away by their generosity, help, and friendship.
For more of my scoop on Webcomics Weekend, check out the latest Art and Story Alive podcast.

Update: Art & Story link updated to point to the podcast.
Sorry gang – being out this weekend for Webcomics Weekend pushed my toon publication schedule back a bit.
Never fear. I dug out a few old single panel PCW ‘toons to tide you over until I get back on track. Enjoy!
