If I know a name will be important, like in an interview, I'll mentally add the name after each statement to that person, like saying the person's name, but in my head... It works for short term, but I probably won't remember the name the next time I see the person. After I meet a person 5-6 times, I can usually remember the name. It can get a little weird trying to read the name badge without looking like a creep, and if they wear it on their belt just forget it.
