I finally had a chance to set up my new Macbook Pro yesterday afternoon. I’m still installing apps, but my first impressions are positive. The screen is uniformly bright, the keyboard feels firm and solid. I’m very happy with my decision to purchase this unit instead of the new MBP (glossy screen) model.
I winded up paying $1000 less than what this machine cost when it came out. Below are some snaps from the obligatory unboxing.

Nice Bedcover.
It’s a rug, but thanks for noticing…
Yeah I agree, I like my MBP “17 non glossy (although they haven’t come out with the new 17 yet) better than the newer ones. The new models are a lot thinner and have a solid casing but I still prefer the older. Nice diggs Krish… Hmmmm now if I can get used to this orange background you got going on here… :)
thanks, eddie. The glossy screens of the new MBP was a major turn-off for me. I’m very happy with the 15″ model I purchased. I haven’t had a chance to play with it much this week, but I aim to put it through its paces starting this weekend.
Specs? I just got a sweet 15″ 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo (refurb) for $1,499 to replace my 1st gen 2006 MBP. I CAN’T WAIT until it gets here (should be tomorrow). The 12 MP RAW images from my Nikon D300 can finally live on my spacious 250 GB internal hard drive (well, at least until I’m done working on them when they can be archived to my drobo).
Thanks for the sweet comic (strip?)!
I purchased the 15″ 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo for $1549 (with rebate) new from Amazon. I haven’t had a chance to really put the machine thru it’s paces (hope to do that this weekend, tho), but from what little I’ve played with it, I’m really happy.
