At long last, the pencil sketch I posted a while back has finally been colored and inked. Enjoy!
….and Happy New Year!

Figure Drawing: Design and Invention

I can’t believe I missed this news byte, but now that I know, I wanted to give a quick plug to reader VertigoX, of the TGTComics Podcast, who wrote a really snazzy spotlight on the PC Weenies.
Check it out!

Apologies for posting this one a bit late. This particular ‘toon came about when I discovered that O’Reilly and Associates are actually putting together their very own conference on “Search”, dubbed “Found: Search Acquisition and Architecture Conference”.
If you’re planning to attend, or know someone who is, why not send ‘em today’s toon? :)
Happy New Years!

P.S.- I drew a guest-strip for my pal Steve Napierski, over at Dueling Analogs. Congrats to him and his wife on the arrival of their new baby! :)
A new UNcubed is out. Pop on over and check it out!
Over the weekend, Smashing Magazine cited its 50 Beautiful Examples of Comic Strip Art, and a certain webcomic featuring a short rotund computer geek made the cut. Woot! :)
Do Colt Seavers (The Fall Guy) and Superman have anything in common? Can we make a purely good hero interesting in this day and age? We discuss various hero archetypes in this week’s Art and Story Alive podcast (episode #46). Have a listen and share your views on the Art and Story website.

From time to time, I like to buy Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. Mostly for nostalgia-sake – it brings me back to my childhood. Kay-bee Toys was going out of business and I couldn’t leave without buying the FordGT40 and Volkswagen Beetle.

I’m a little late in posting the show notes up for last Saturday’s Sequential Artists’ Pub podcast. Once again we had an excellent
turn-out – the topic of discussion was marketing and branding your webcomic. Discussion ranged from creating effective banner ads to using social networks as a method to bring in more readers.
Participating on the call were:
….and many, many more. The last 10 minutes or so of the show was plagued by some weird audio echo that I couldn’t
suppress. Perhaps it was the ghost of Charles Schulz?

Victor Cajiao is a name synonymous with Mac podcasting. Chances are you’ve listened to his excellent TypicalMacUser podcast (and if you haven’t, you really should!)…
Most people would rest on their laurels – but Victor didn’t let success slow him down -he’s recently launched a second website and podcast, dubbed Typical Shutterbug, targeted towards folks who want to learn more about photography.
Victor has been a long time supporter of the PC Weenies; he’s been appearing as a guest-star for the past few years – and I would like to take this space to thank him for his loyal support.
I’ll have to assemble all his appearances on the website in a proper format, but until that happens, you can pop over to see his last appearance before this one.
Enjoy the latest ‘toon!

Family’s in town, so I haven’t had much of a chance to blog this weekend. Here’s a sketch that will be inked and colored over at DrawMeaRobot.

Today’s comic was sponsored by reader Tim Kerigan, and guest-stars his mom Ann Kerigan. For his mom’s guest-star appearance, Tim wrote:
We own our own business (Millie’s Pierogi) and my mom’s our day to day general manager. We do a lot of business online, through mail-order so she’s been forced to learn the essentials of the Internet and such but in most computer things she’s still stuck in 1995. Still uses all the Win95 versions of Office, only exception is the new Outlook only for sending mass e-mails to our customers. For regular communication she still uses the old Outlook Express. Another example; we just got high speed Internet at the business over the summer. The only exception to this whole computer illiterateness (pretty sure I just made that word up) is her Access database. She took classes on how to build them and she’ll sprout code like crazy when she starts talking about it…but try to get her to upload a photo and she’s lost.
So hopefully that gives you something to work with along with the photos.
Thanks!
Tim Kerigan
Tim and his mom will receive the autographed sketch I drew to make today’s comic, along with an autographed color print commemorating Ann’s guest-star appearance.
Guest-starring in your very own PC Weenies comic is super easy, and a great way to surprise your friends and family. It’s also a fantastic way to promote your business! Sign up today!
